DAVID OAKES

David Oakes owns and operates Sunshine Drones. He has been a Part 107-certified pilot since September 2016, and has been flying UAVs since 2015.

David has more than 30 years experience providing marketing and communications consulting services, as well as serving as a marketing manager for a national construction equipment rental company, a national electric utility and telecommunications engineering and construction firm, and an international technology company.

He also was a reporter, business writer and section editor for newspapers for a decade.  An accomplished writer, photographer, videographer and graphic designer, he holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Alabama.

David grew up in an Air Force family, and has lived in Germany, Japan and Okinawa, where he developed an appreciation for different cultures, foods and people, no matter what language is spoken. He enjoys traveling, and has visited and photographed in India, across Europe, South Africa and Lebanon.
